the underlying issue that tonto is trying to get at with the 15% fica question, is that he believes *employers* are socked with the bulk of the 15K fica tax, while I believe *employees* are. If you are an employee your employer pays half and you pay half, or if you are a sole proprietor you pay the whole thing. Of course SV is a beehive for sole proprietors. In the end these costs are added to the burdened cost of adding staff however, its not like employers just pay this money and its a freebie for the worker.

The old republican trickle down theory has this belief that workers are just costs and management is some sort of super class that provides for the sole existance of the "little people". My line of thinking is different, I think workers are future managers and the playing field needs to be more level- from the start.
