I actually saw a methodist rev and a southern baptist rev fighting on TV last nite about this film. I guess the christians have not yet settled on the story or the importance of the brutality of his death in all this. Regarding the brutality, the methodist rev said that crucifiction was the method of choice and that there was NO reason to think that gibsons portrayal of jesus being singled out for extra punishment is true. Either they were all tortured this badly or none were. MIke
