Yes, Kerry helped end the war by telling the people the truth about some of the horror, lies and mismanagement in Vietnam. Up until then not many people knew how horrible it was over there, and how we weren't winning because we had no real plan. Interestingly, the rightwing is now charging that Kerry slurred soldiers in Nam (not true of course when you read the testimony) but on the Watergate tapes, Nixon and Erlichman call Kerry a "baby-killer", chuckling about it. Nixon ordered Kerry "detsroyed" on those tapes. Just as they tried to destroy Daniel Ellsberg for leaking the Pentagon Papers which proved the entire war was based on a big lie.
