we're talking lyricism here!
Odd to read a juxtaposition, even facetious, of the word 'lyricism' with a film described as showing, in slow detail, a long pre-crucifiction torture including beatings, blood spurting and dripping, lashing and ripping of flesh with little sharp hooks, pulling of an arm out of its socket, excruciating, methodical torture, some of it in slow motion. But I guess that put to music, and photographed artily, anything can seem lyrical, in a particular frame of mind.
Thousands of young children are going to see these special effects and believe they're seeing a man slowly tortured to death. |
