re:" Let's say that person marries someone who has aids simply so that person can get free medical benefits. One or 2 people doing this at a small company could force the company to either scale back their benefits, discontinue them or "

First of all, you seem to be suggesting that only homosexuals have or get AIDS....this is incorrect. Secondly, in our country people in desperate need can get health care by walking into an ER. In the case of AIDS, I believe AIDS clinics are available....we are not going to let anyone die for lack of funds. Yea, yea, for the USA!' The person who might marry a homosexual with AIDS is most likely to be that persons partner. So they would have a right to marry or have a civil union in any case. Are you envisioning a hetero marrying a homo so one can get med benefits...???

re:"As far as rights go gays have the same rights as straight people do. A straight person isn't (in most places) allowed to marry a person of the same sex either. "

Now, what the hell does that mean???? You've confused me.
