I had a couple of relatives who were keeping up with what the current boycotted produce was. I do remember it being a little complicated at times. <g>

The reason in my opinion why Chavez was successful was that he had no problem invoking religion in his speeches. He was even a little in your face about it. He led his marches under the banner of Our Lady of Guadalupe. A lot of lefty agitators were religious back then. Remember the Berrigans? And all those nuns? It seems that when the left lost their religious people their movement pretty much dried up.
