If you like reading about Xerxes and related, I just finished a good piece of "Historical Fiction" by Steven Pressfield called Gates of Fire. It is self described as an "An Epic Novel of the Battle of Thermopylae." It contains cool bits of history, but more importantly it is entertaining. <g> You reminded me of it when you mentioned Xerxes sitting on a mountain and watching the action from his throne...
