You're absolutely right. That's all you can do- is try to set a good example. You cope with the bad as gracefully as possible, and enjoy the good times without overdoing it. Cos and I are natural life long learners, so our kids have seen us constantly tackling new challenges, and of course I read CONSTANTLY- and so do my girls :-)

I guess we've centered our lives around school and music, and that's been good for us. My youngest may also want to try for a sport since she is very athletic, but she will never give up on music (she says)- all the kids want to play in band in college. Since music is a nucleus for a lot of our recreational activity we all have that in common- and like sports it keeps our family together. I am very happy with all the new research that shows how music helps the brain grow smarter, faster. We'll have my mom's piano soon, and I'll begin to teach all the kids piano, plus I'll be able to accompany them when they play their duets. I'm really looking forward to that. I took many many years of piano- and I've missed having one.
