How can the Bushies criticize one who has been to war, who after "honorably nay heroically discharged" his duty to the country, came back and fought for his fellow soldiers to save them from the horrors of a war that we did not have a reason to be there in the first place.

I do not question Kerry's heroism on the ground in Vietnam. However, that alone does not qualify him for the office of the Presidency. One could make the argument that an individual who has experienced the horrors of war might be overly hesitant to commit American forces when appropriate. Witness his vote against the Gulf War in 1991, though I suspect that his vote in that instance was driven by pure politics.
