Idealy, alchohol is a better choice than methanol because it is less toxic. However, most companies are leaning toward nature gas. In B.C. right now, the government have plans to drill the coast for both natural gas and oil. To extract hydrogen from natural gas cost pretty well next to nothing. To grow something from the ground may cost quit a bit.
