JWCB: If a Recessionary or Deflationary Debt Liquidation

cycle begins to take hold in the US, with a significant up spike in bankruptcies and foreclosures and general doom--does that strengthen the Dollar? Does such a societal and public acknowledgement of a deflationary ravaging work to contract the money supply--thus becoming, perversely, dollar supportive?
