<Have you considered the possibility that your CO2 "pump" will melt enough of your remaining ice cap to flood the oceans with sufficient fresh waters to cap off the deep ocean currents and thus prevent their ability to circulate warm equatorial waters towards the poles and vice versa? ... >

Of course NightOwl! The reason we don't need to worry about that hypothesis is that there was a LOT of ice 20,000 years ago and it has been melting for all that time, mostly ending about 10,000 years ago. Despite that vast deluge of fresh water, which has slowed to a trickle, the warming continued and the ocean circulations did their thing.

The fresh water doesn't stop the Gulf Stream, which is propelled by salty, cold, dense water sinking and flowing south having flowed up from the south, evaporating as it goes, becoming more salty and colder.

< suspect you may be too far removed from your jungle roots to recall that Nature is anything but "mindless and indifferent."

Oh She is a beastly "beast" all right. ...But but make no mistake. She is out to get you and your methane belching machinations that have interfered with Her Elegant Evolutionary Designs for about 5000 years too many.

Now there's some anthropomorphism for you. I'll stick with the mindless indifference which does indeed seem out to get us. There's no reason at all to suppose that the carbon wasn't being gradually buried with permanent ice age the outcome, which was the process that had been going on, until we came along and reversed the process.

Nature has no plans, just processes based on natural laws, which we can mess with at will if we don't like the way things are going.

We need more Hummers and SUVs zooming around! Burn baby, burn. Dig that oil.
