The fresh water doesn't stop the Gulf Stream, which is propelled by salty, cold, dense water sinking and flowing south having flowed up from the south, evaporating as it goes, becoming more salty and colder.

Not sure if I agree with you here Maurice.. There is historical and scientific evidence that the bursting of a large fresh water lake in N. America disrupted the "ocean conveyor" and possibly launched a secondary ice age.

However, I'm not saying that this is not a normal cyclical pattern related to the earth geo-mechanics than created by humanity...

After all, the last ice age occurred all by itself without the help of humans.
