Well, the idea that Matthew relied on a UFO document is better left out of the discussion IMO, along with that site. As a debate tip you'd be much better off with just the argument from silence and reasonable closed-universe arguments. The reason is that the JMannuel document sounds contrived in modern times to "give evidence" for alien's bringing "truth" to the planet. My bet is that the document was written in the 1900s. Too bad their originals got lost because of persecution from governments conspiring to keep the document a secret. (They should have said the aliens came back to take the originals. Joseph Smith's story is that angels took his original documents back to heaven.) It's a better argument to say that these crazy fishermen from the lake made up the stories about Jesus from their knowledge of mythology. When you consider historical a document resulting from space aliens (a superstitious idea from modern times) capturing this Jesus 2000 years ago after he had been to India for enlightenment, then returns home to be abducted for further enlightenment. Well, we simple ignorant pigs can't keep up with all that. Stick to straightening our muddled minds with reason. I couldn't have predicted this turn in the discussion for the life of me. I am much more relaxed about the level of "burden of proof" than I had been. If you are serious about the question of the historicity of Jesus, apart from UFOs, try reading Marcus Borg from the Jesus Seminar. There was a positive reference to them in one of your links because, as you know, they are so skeptical about all the Jesus stuff too. Jesus, A New Vision or Meeting Jesus Again for the First Time give a university professor's look at the historicity question. To save you a little time, Borg does think there was a Jesus in history who is actually responsible for the resulting religion. That's probably enough for you to decide not to read it.
