Andy,

Intel overvalued? I don't think so when everyone from Brinker to Whittington to Kurlak to whomever Wall Street Week has on recommends INTC, if they recommend any tech stock; when they use descriptives like "the franchise" and "single best idea" about Intel; when Intel beats earnings street estimates soundly, when they are more dominant in their product area than even IBM used to be, and it's the most important tech product for the foreseeable future, who is going to want to sell???? All this adds up to, using an analogy, something like more and more air being whipped under the wings of a high altitude spy plane.

What I've also noticed, and has been mentioned by others here, is that Intel has been "managing" the street far better than ever. They used to do it on a performance only basis. Now, you can hardly pick up the business section of the paper any more (at least the San Jose Mercury News) without seeing another Intel innovation or announcement. The street likes this and awards a higher PE ratio for it. If you don't believe it, check out Microsoft and their hype and PE. I think Intel learned this lesson from the boys up in Redmond WA.

Tony
