John,
The truth of the matter is that gay marriage is inevitable and sometimes its good policy to get out ahead of it. I was reading this weekend that even some evangelicals dont get too hot about it. Bush is hurting himself with independents who voted for him the first time around--folks who are libetarian as well as independents with more of a leftist bent who largely agree with bush on the war on terror and he nature of the threat.
Bush lost the popular vote last time. The odds on him winning without a plurality are slim. IF kerry looks calm and doesnt get rattled, some folks will just assume he will defend us against the bad guys and vote strictly on the social issues that bush is on the wrong side of--wrong side politically that is. mike
