We don't know all the fact yet, but even assuming that to be so, if it saved the invasion of the capital and the deaths of hundreds of citizens in the crossfire, wasn't it worth it?

Consider.

If the US had had a chance to grab Hitler in 1938 and remove him from Germany, would that have been a good or a bad thing?

If the US had had a chance to grab Saddam on 1990 and remove him from Iraq, would that have been a good or a bad thing?

It is sometimes necessary to help a destructive leader leave. The US might have saved a lot of lives.

And don't suggest that the UN should have been involved. If they had been asked to negotiate this a week ago, they would still be debating the shape of the table to meet around.
