Dropped by a Best Buy here in the Wash DC metro area. Went by the Webtv display (a lot better then it used to be as far as display, positioning and knowledgeable salesmen -- Microsoft must have made changes). Two webtv boxes. The salesguy( who knew how it worked) said the units were moving. He couldnt answer how many a week, but said 40 WebTV units sold just last month from that store. He said lots of "old people" were buying them, plus people who were buying gifts for college kids. I think the fact of increasing sales of Webtv is good news for our company. Lots of space for competition, especially if its a better quality/more options. The webtv display was in an area with the satellite tv modules, and close to the large screen tv area. Hey we need Univiews out here in the Mid-Atlantic/Northeast!!! Lots of "old people" and college parent customers! I asked him about dvd and he told me they were looking at about 7 yrs for that to be fully completed. He started to explain things but it was way past my intelligence/ability to comprehend/nausea level. As far as the previous post about bigscreens: as you can see Im not a techie but there certainly was a large variety for sale. My take is this - since we know digital tvs will be horrendously more expensive than current, can we not foresee large screen digital tvs to be horrendously more expensive than current? I for one would be interested in buying the bigscreen with built in from CM. Screw waiting a few years and spending like Im making a dwnpayment on a house. One other thing- Ive lurked for a looong time here and only recently started to post my thoughts. This is because the negativity seems to breed on itself from only a few diehard folks who bother to post. We have 12000 other fellow investors???. Dont get me wrong - not attacking anyone and I appreciate some really informative posts from the perpetual bears. However, if you sit back and take things in perspective it doesnt look bad at all especially with the units actually being shipped and sold. Armchair quarterbacking every minutiae just gets your underwear more constrictive in my book. Relax.
