Duke....Re..Fourth, and this is the case in the National Guard thingy, the burden of proof sometimes shifts to the person who has the best source of the facts. The President is the Commander in Chief of the armed forces, which I assume, includes the National Guard.

While the president is indeed commander in chief, the president has no local control over any troops. Only the local troops, and the state department employees who were there, are the best source. The state department employee, would have told his boss, who would have told Powell, who would have told the pres. So the pres, was likely 4 times removed.

say to you, WHY were our forces at Aristede's house in the middle of the night in the first place?

Let me guess. If you are trying to get him to safety, without the rebels finding out about it, and have the rebels trying to stop it; the middle of the night is as good of a time as any. 2 oclock is about middle of the night as you get.
