RE: Lone Star Advertising.

I received a mass-mailing coupon postcard today. The front has "Come Experience the Taste of Texas" with a nice collage of bear, steaks, baked and sweet potatoes, texas tumbleweed, ribs, rice, peanuts, and beer. The back has a list of all the locations (odd, none in TX <G>) and two coupons (expires 9/15/97): one for a free appetizer and one for 2 lunches for $10.

My favorite restaurant is Outback Steakhouse. I eat there at least a couple times per week. (Side note: I've heard two Outback radio commercials this week.) I've been to several Lone Stars and it has never compared to Outback. But that's just me--many people seem to enjoy Lone Star.

FWIW, I think that STAR is probably oversold. But I also don't expect to see much upside movement between now and the next earnings statement, and probably not until the one after that. Earnings announcements spook buyers--many will wait until they see that things are back on track, and that will be no sooner than the quarter after this one.
