Check the records, Bubba, Recession started March 2001.
That was four months after Bush took power and even before that time the markets pretty much knew Bush was likely to beat Gore by a slim margin. The energy crisis the skunks from Texas created also contributed to the dampening of the economy, at a very sensitive time.

Don't you remember in January 2001 when Cheney predicted we were about to fall into recession. It hadn't happened yet, but then it did. Cheney said that in order to try and blame it on CLinton-Gore. But the markets tanked once Bush was beating Gore. Except for defense, energy and pollution stocks of course.
