I know it's been posted here before, but how do I disable Windows Messenger in XP pro? I've been getting prompts to update messenger every time I open OE and switch identities to check different email folder. Although it didn't bother me much at first, it's getting on my nerves now.

I've tried the Administrative Tools>Services>Messenger>Stop route but the window is showing it disabled and 'stop' is grayed out, thereby making this fix ineffective. Another fix I found through Google looked to be a little squirrely.

Does anyone remember the post to remove this PITA and can you direct me to it?

Thanks for your help.

Jerry
