Second, the brigade is changing the way it flies. Instead of having the Apaches hovering and shooting missiles from a long way off, more emphasis will be placed on maneuvering and shooting on the move, what the Army dubs "high-energy tactics."

There was a good show on PBS the other day on Innovation about the US military and Iraq. One of the things that was mentioned was this change in tactics. They went from hovering the Apaches and getting shot, to going fast and low and using the nose gun to strafe targets before they knew what hit em.

One interesting bit was about the thunder runs through Baghdad. One of the guys related that the fighting was so close, one of his guys ran out of ammo, dumped the ammo out of the ammo box and threw it at an Iraqi, knocking him down. That's close fighting!
