Who is Silver Springs, Janet? I have a tiny bit of country music, and have always especially loved Willie Nelson, Patsy Cline, and Asleep at the Wheel, but this is an area where the culture I live in doesn't offer very wide exposure. The Trisha Yearwood lyrics are simply hauntingly beautiful. What album do they come from?
You really should plant that weeping willow soon if you are going to grow old gracefully in its shade, with your sun hat and long gingham dress, don't ya think? Things are pretty quiet in the garden here. A seed catalog came today, and I am going to have fun lying in bed looking through it, dreaming. I want to plant a lot of bulbs this fall, so that I can have big vases of cut flowers in the spring and feel like the domestic goddess I aspire to be!!! I am a little hesitant, though, always wondering how much longer I will live in this house, or in this place at all. I am yearning for an adventure somewhere else.
Speaking of gardens, a very sweet thing happened yesterday. My daughter beckoned me to the window, excitedly, and when I got there I saw the mommy raccoon teaching her three very large, but still nursing, cubs or whatever you call them (what DO you call baby raccoons?) to climb our fence and branch out into the blackberry brambles. Pretty soon all four of them were up there, eight feet off the ground, picking berries!! Their paw pads look really tender and delicate--I wonder how they avoid getting punctured by the stickers that always injure me when I am motivated to pick berries and bake a big juicy cobbler or something.
Have a nice peaceful weekend, Janet Planet!!! |
