Stability is a very strong positive sign. The base is a nice place to be when venturing out to pick up some stocks. This telecom industry has been destroyed over the past three to four years. Not only is it nice to buy some stock, but it is nice to see service providers once again getting interested in upgrading their systems so we can all benefit from high speed access to the internet, as well as transmit voice and video easily. My local providers have basically done zippo during the past years, and for obvious reasons. Things are finally looking good.

As far as the stock price goes. It looks like the analysts are starting to pick their "winners", but it seems to me that the big three telecom equipment providers are all doing pretty darn good, with some doing better than others in a variety of sectors. The bottom line usually is that when one is doing well, they all are doing well, but one has to be out in front. Nortel did a better job of getting ahead of the crowd in VoIP, but VoIP has a lot of room for other big boys like Alcatel and Lucent. Personally, I like Lucent's position in wireless access to the internet. That growth was reflected in the last quarter's numbers, and I would guess that Lucent will continue to see significant growth in that area.

Two months down, one month up. I guess that's the way it goes. Let's get ready for that one month up.
