I think it's better if people have a wide and diverse collection of friends that think differently.

Amy, I used to agree with that philosophy. I don't any more. A line was drawn in the sand somewhere between Clinton's sexcapades and 9/11........ ever since I find it very difficult to deal with people coming from a certain mindset.

I have a gun-toting Republican friend that goes completely counter to many of my core values, but we all enjoy hiking together and he does provide different opinions. We respectfully disagree, or we find the humor in it. But I also find it very interesting to see how the rest of the USA perceives things, so to speak. Anytime I want to take a litmus test on how conservative Republicans think, I just ask him. He's really way out there on the right sometimes so it can be quite easy to pull his leg.

I have conservative friends as well. There are conservatives and then there are people who are hard right. Those are the people of whom I speak.
