Most interesting piece, Charleymane. I have a rant this morning as well. The piece you posted made me more aware of my uneasiness. I think John Podhoretz is correct.....

My rant, for whatever it's worth.

The media seem to all be the same...the people doing the pontificating look the same, they parrot the same words, the magazines seem to all tell the same story.

They are all trying, by mandate from their owners, to raise controversy and verbal mayhem in an effort to sell ads at greater dollars per second, or actual printed copy circulation, therefore raising the cost of the sponsoring ads.

Many of us see through this. More of us need to.

Gay marriage? Who cares, and why? It is currently against the law in many places. If one doesn't like the law, there are ways to change the law.

Can elected officials break the law any time they choose? Can anyone else in society break the law of the society without consequence?

For the people who are constantly harping about the lack of jobs... More and more jobs are advertised in the local papers. If they are advertised, there is an opening. Are the people who are complaining about the lack of jobs applying to any of these? If not, why not? Where do the people who are complaining about the lack of jobs think the jobs come from in the first place? Perhaps some of them should pool their money and start new ventures. Then they too can work 20 hours a day, pay expenses, hopefully have enough money for payroll and of course, taxes. And maybe have enough to take home a bit for themselves. Or do they really believe the Government really creates jobs?? Or any President??? Just shows all of us what isn't being taught in school.

Re TV ads for politics. Do the Democrats think that 9-11 didn't exist? What other President did we have then? President G W Bush did an excellent job when 9-11 happened. We all could feel more comfortable realizing that we had a capable leader for all Americans. The Democrats, because of the speeches, and onslaught onto the talk shows by their leaders, seem to wish we were back in those days.

As for the survivors of 9-11 people who were murdered that day. I'm sorry, but feel that most of the survivors have been financially compensated, certainly when one compares the financial compensation, OR THE LACK OF IT, that any of the survivors of our military receive.

Perhaps John Kerry could show some of the pictures of him that were taken during that time. Certainly he, as a Senator, was doing something of value to the community. Wasn't he?

Events of 9-11 don't just belong to those survivors. The events belong to ALL Americans. Unfortunately.

I for one, would like the media, both visual and written, to identify the actual numbers of people "THEY" say are "saying" whatever it is they quote them as saying. I no longer believe the words ...."there are a growing number of people...", or "several people say".....or anything similar "Made Up Group Think". I want to hear actual quotes from actual people.
