Again, when Gw transferred to the Alabama unit, it was not a mandatory reporting unit, whatever that means. Later the air force revoked their permission for GW to transfer there. However there is no proof, the guard ever sent out orders to report somewhere else. My guess it was a bookeeping error; or the orders were sent to the wrong address, as GW had moved. So I think both sides agreed, to a minimum number of non flight hrs, so he meet his requirements, and gave him an honorable dismissal.

In any case, I have never heard of the military being so lax with its rules. When have you heard of someone getting out of the military a year early because they wanted to go to grad school? If it happens, its so rare the moon turns blue more frequently.
There are a lot of unusual twists and turns with Bush's military career. Of course, at the time, Mr. Bush was a coke snorting, beer drinking frat boy who had been busted a couple of times.
