FONAR Sells 66th Stand-Up MRI and Installs #34 to Same California Customer Who Says 'Stand Up and See What You've Been Missing!'

MELVILLE, NY--(MARKET WIRE)--Mar 4, 2004 -- FONAR Corporation (NasdaqSC:FONR - News), The MRI Specialist™, announced today that Hallmark Stand-Up MRI has purchased its second Stand-Up™ MRI, and that FONAR has completed the installation of Hallmark's first Stand-Up™ MRI at 4130 Hallmark Parkway in San Bernardino, California [(909) 473-1944]. Hallmark Stand-Up MRI in San Bernardino began operations this past December. Allan Cortez, Hallmark's Director of Operations and an experienced manager of MRI centers, said, "I am very impressed with how quickly the referring physicians in our community are recognizing the added diagnostic value of the Stand-Up™ MRI, and how quickly patient throughput has increased."

Eric Reints, Chief Operating Officer of Hallmark Stand-Up MRI, added, "The Stand-Up™ MRI is the only machine that allows the patient to walk in and be scanned in a weight-bearing position. Our doctors are raving about it. We decided on our first Stand-Up™ MRI because we saw the need for the added benefits of this new kind of MRI scanner, particularly for surgeons, which is why we picked a location near our surgery center. Once we saw how successful the Stand-Up™ MRI is with patients, physicians and surgeons, we decided to go ahead with a second unit. The FONAR Stand-Up™ MRI is a perfect fit for our business plan."

"'Stand-Up and see what you've been missing,'" continued Mr. Cortez, "is my opening line when I speak to orthopedic and neurological groups about our Stand-Up™ MRI. Since we opened two months ago, we have been successful in differentiating ourselves from our recumbent-only MRI competition. In that short period of time, we have demonstrated that the added value of Position™ Imaging (pMRI) is critical to our referring physician community. The FONAR Stand-Up™ MRI provides more definitive results, often seeing pathology that a recumbent scan might miss. With Upright™ Imaging in weight-bearing positions, we can provide our referring physicians the complete picture of a patient's pathology."

"The San Bernardino Sun wrote an excellent article all about our new Stand-Up™ MRI scanner entitled, 'MRI Gets New Look.' The article included pictures from several different angles showing the patient watching television, perfectly relaxed," said Mr. Cortez. "They told the story nicely."

Raymond Damadian, president and founder of FONAR said, "It's always nice to see another Stand-Up™ MRI installed, but it's especially nice when the success of a first purchase so quickly leads to the sale of a second FONAR Stand-Up™ MRI."
