"What in hell makes you think that 'payroll taxes drive up the medical costs in America'?" They don't. But they PAY medical costs for those who cannot afford them otherwise. I was pointing out that it is strange that while you were complaining about the higher costs (a legit complaint that I share) you were advocating cutting back on a means for the elderly and less fortunate to pay the costs. "most of Congress (both sides of the aisle) are in bed with the special interests" The repubs have tried for tort reform, which is the biggest issue, and the dems always shut it down.
