Good point Zonkie and in this day anything at all can happen. OBL strikes us from Afghanistan and we take down Saddam in Iraq. Pakistan proliferates nuclear technology to North Korea and we take down Saddam in Iraq.

Bush has been blatant about taking down the social structure put in place after the Great Depression and WW II. This, while knowing he had to run for reelection.

Without worrying about reelection and getting a 'mandate' to wage preemptive unilateral wars for profit based on falsified evidence and blatant lying, Cheney's grim and hateful mind would be let loose to wreck the world.

If anything like what you point out happens, it's time for immediate impeachment proceedings. In fact, whatever happened to impeachment proceedings pre election?

I'd like to see Kerry run against Cheney or whoever would be left in the RNC that would be willing to take a beating for the team.
