I agree with you regarding corporate profits mainly because there is not really much pricing power out there. In more "normal" times corp profits may be a better proxy, but not right now. However, I guess I don't agree that they ever really explain housing prices.

Agreed. Possibly % changes in personal income would be a better explanatory measure too.
