that last witness was clearly put into the case for nothing other than to incite envy.

And the defense, unbelievably stupidly, fed into this by noting how small the amount of money was compared to Martha's net worth, how she's such an icon, how they won't dignify the charges against her by, heaven forbid, putting up some of their own witnesses, and, of course, Martha has much better things to do than defend herself to you all. And, by the way, check out all of Martha's celebrity friends around the courthouse. Impressive, right? So the jury took great offense to this ivory tower approach and nailed her.

BTW, last night on Saturday Night Live they made fun of the jury and how they focused on this very point as opposed to the actual facts of the case.
