FONAR Sells 67th Stand-Up MRI to California Scanning Center, and Latest Multi-Purchaser Who Plans to Buy Ten
Monday March 8, 3:00 am ET

MELVILLE, NY--(MARKET WIRE)--Mar 8, 2004 -- FONAR Corporation (NasdaqSC:FONR - News), The MRI Specialist(TM), announced today the sale of its 67th FONAR Stand-Up(TM) MRI to Full Body Scanning of Orange County, LLC, in Irvine, California. The scanner, which will be installed in Riverside, California, is FONAR's second Stand-Up MRI sale to the customer, making Full Body Scanning the 13th multi-unit purchaser of the FONAR Stand-Up(TM) MRI. FONAR announced the first sale to Full Body Scanning in July, 2003.

Mr. Dino Berardino, president and a founder of Full Body Scanning said, "We have done our due diligence. It is remarkable how successful FONAR Stand-Up(TM) MRIs have been during their first years of operation. We have ordered our second unit even before opening our first center because it is obvious just how powerful this new technology is. In fact, our due-diligence team is now looking for our third site. We are tentatively planning to buy ten (10) FONAR Stand-Up(TM) MRIs over the next two years."

"We have decided to install our second Stand-Up(TM) MRI in the Riverside, California because we have an enormous number of contacts there," continued Mr. Berardino. "We expect to be operating Riverside by the end of the summer. Full Body Scanning's first Stand-Up(TM) MRI is now in the construction phase in Orange County, California and is expected to be completed by the beginning of this summer."

"Full Body Scanning," continued Mr. Berardino, "is currently in the business of operating CT scanners. When our patients learn that we are adding MRI services, they are eager to know if it's the kind of scanner where they would be pushed into a tube. This is a big issue for almost all patients. I should know, in my case, I had to suffer through three scans in lie-down MRIs before they found a herniated disc at the C5-C6 level, a condition that required me to have a spinal fusion using hipbone as disc replacement. It just makes sense that when a patient has symptoms only when in a certain posture or position, whether standing, sitting or bending, that the imaging be done with the patient in that very position. It would have saved me a lot of grief."

Mr. Berardino added, "The matter of patient comfort is always of utmost importance to us. With this new technology we will be able to address the needs of our claustrophobic patients, freeing them of the anxieties commonly associated with MRI scanning. Our patients will have nothing over their heads or in front of their faces, except a 42" flat-screen television. It just doesn't get any better than that." Mr. Berardino concluded, "We are very appreciative of the unusual amount of assistance we've received from FONAR's sales representative and the entire FONAR management team. Their 25 years MRI experience and their desire to see their customers succeed has really benefited us."
