The republicans can no more run a pro choice candidate than the dems can run a pro life candidate. The legacy of roe vs. wade is to make abortion a permanent litmus test for presidential candidates. Given ru-486 and similar drugs that will probably hit the markets in years to come, the issue has little practical significance, imo (can't put the genie back in the bottle).
