Well if they worked that hard in China they wouldn't be as rich. A stable and fair society that allows them to prosper is not something that is costless. Why should they take a free ride on the costs of maintaining the social fabric when they are the ones who gained the most from it? And get back to my point. As people become richer do they become more risk averse? If so then the bush tax cuts are doomed to failure as an economic stimulant.
