As an interesting aside, ALR was a company that 8 years manufactured a chipset that would allow small inexpensive intel cpus (up to six!!!) to be used in series and in parallel. Before the company had a chance to develop the technology, they were purchased by GTW. Yes, shareholders were upset, but if they just traced the technology into Gateway, until Gateway had exhausted the use, they would have made a buck or two.

There are many stocks that go up and down, but if you are ever in this situation as a shareholder, you can consider this technique as one possible alternative.
