Its not whether folks own their property--it is if they still own after they or their spouse die. Why do heirs have more rights than the collective after death? Now i agree that in ordr to incent hard work during life, you need to create a fair number, index it to inflation and tax fairly above the threshold. YOu also have to solve the liquidation of business or farms problem that are used to pay such taxes. I wont go there now. Mike
