I monitor this thread for several reasons (and I've never tried to disguise those reasons):
1) One of my top investments is Iomega, and I consider SyQuest to be the largest competitor. It's only prudent to follow the competition.
2) I consider SYQT a very good short, and want to get a handle on investor sentiment. Right now, SYQT investors are extremely bullish (perhaps blindly so) and I consider that a good short indicator. When I feel that starting to change, I might jump in and short the stock on the ride down. I would also like to hear bullish answers to the bearish arguments.
3) Several friends (from other SI threads) are long on SYQT. I just want to make sure that they are fully aware of the negative aspects of SYQT: massive dilution, aggressive competition, aweful balance sheet, continued losses, etc.
I wish everyone well on their investments (long or short). I have nothing against SyQuest the company or their products, but I find the stock and management to be very poor.
The stock market is about one thing, and that is to make money. The minute I feel that I can make money on the long side with SYQT, I'll be growing horns.
