EL SEGUNDO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 9, 2004-- Infonet Services Corporation (NYSE:IN), a leading provider of global communications services for multinationals, and KDDI, Japan's second largest telecommunications carrier, today announced that Toyota Motor Europe is using Infonet's IP VPN Secure for MPLS-enabled IP service connecting more than 100 of its European production, sales, logistics, financial services and assembly sites, including its regional headquarters in Brussels, Belgium.

Toyota Motor Europe is the ninth largest automobile manufacturer in Europe, employing more than 56,000 people with upwards of 756,000 units sold in 2002. Infonet's MPLS-enabled IP network for Toyota Motor Europe was implemented by KDDI and Infonet Belgium through Infonet's Navigator Program, which provides coordinated global and local account management processes for multinational corporations.

Toyota Motor Europe's IP network utilizes both MPLS and Class of Service (CoS) to provide a secure and prioritized environment for the use of a number of Toyota's applications, including its enterprise-critical ERP system and additional Web-based applications.

In addition, Toyota Motor Europe's IP network is scalable and set up for the secure convergence of voice, video and data across the network in the near future. Toyota can also easily support its future growth needs by quickly and efficiently bringing new locations onto the network and adding new applications that require any-to-any and point-to-point connectivity.

"The European automobile market is one of the most competitive and sophisticated in the world. It is vital to move quickly, and Infonet and KDDI are providing a highly scalable network so we can grow our business more efficiently. By migrating to a single enhanced managed network across the region we anticipate major operational improvements," said Yoshikazu Amano, CIO, Toyota Motor Corp, Japan. "In July of 2003, the new Toyota Avensis, built in Burnaston, UK, was shipped to Japan. This is the first time that European-built Toyota vehicles have been exported to Japan. Toyota is a truly global company and the ability to communicate securely and efficiently is critical to our day-to-day operations."

"Infonet and KDDI have more than a decade of experience delivering industry leading communications services to multinationals. This expertise played a critical part in our being able to work across regions to provide a cost effective and reliable IP-based solution to Toyota Motor Europe's multiple sites, without compromising on performance," said Peter Chai, vice president and general manager of Asia-Pacific, Infonet.

"Infonet's advanced MPLS-enabled IP network for Toyota Motor Europe is allowing for the creation of several virtual networks for their business units and positioning them to add in any kind of service, like voice and video, to get a fully converged international communication platform sustaining their global needs," said Harry van Streun, president of Infonet Europe, Middle-East and Africa.
