Perhaps because it's not the most important issue. Did you ever consider that? Perhaps that's too much to ask, but I don't think it's too much to refrain from asserting it as though it were a fact. <g>

The correct way to phrase that is "most Americans are not focusing on it, mistakenly IMO, as the most important issue." Or some such...
