Clapper,

Most blues riffs are in A or if played in the the middle of the neck, B-flat. Your E progression is classic....E, A, D..e in the bottom fret, A in the fifth fret and D in 8th fret (when I get home I'll count'em up to be certain, I play mostly by ear. There are some easy fingering arrangements in blues (that you may already be using) hitting only a few string and two fingering positions.

Sounds like you have taken a deep dive into it. Put on a CD and play along (you might need to reset your tuning. The CD may be playing a bunch of fancy riffs, but there are probably only 3-4 chords supporting them....you'll hear'em.
