Hi snowshoe, Aside from the technical problems and accident potential, it would conveniently put a dirty nuclear bomb and delivery system within the grasp of suicide terrorists. I realize that. And there's a host of other problems as well, such as what to do with the spent fuel... But the bottom line is that airlines are going broke, even the discounters, if the price of jet fuel stays as high as it currently it. They can only pass along so much to the end consumer before the consumer stops flying altogether because it's too expensive. So the choice is to either suspend air service until a safer, less expensive form of fuel comes along, or go with nuclear fuel now. I suspect that somehow, someway, someone will develop a small nuclear reactor for airplanes that minimizes the dangers in the event of an accident or hijacking. I can't imagine that the global economy would allow commercial flights to go into the annals of history because fuel was too expensive. KJC
