You can make a case that if not for Pound we wouldn't have heard of TS Eliot. He edited several influential literary journals in his day and was the only one willing to publish Eliot. He also revived troubador poetry in an effort to reunite words and tune, to make poetry a "whole art" again.

Was there any true mental illness?

Somewhere along the line he became obsessed with 'usurists' and 'international shysters.' In his latter days he implored people to 'fight for their race', whatever the hell that meant...

He really is a tale of two lives. I prefer his 'Latin Quarter' period...
