I doubt I know more about Pound than you do. But I know a little bit about Lawrence Dennis, one of Pound's codefendants in the sedition trial. Commonly called a 'fascist' today, Dennis was once widely read and respected by American communist intellectuals. One of the interesting things about buying used books is you sometimes find curious bits of paper inside the books. I picked up a copy of Dennis' Dynamics of War and Revolution a few years ago and found inside a tantalizing note. It was on the letterhead of a professor at Vassar. On one side was a shopping list for groceries, on the other side was written, "If you don't hear from me by Monday call the authorities." I've often thought I'd go to Vassar to see if I could find out more about this professor and if everything turned out OK for her, but haven't gotten around to it yet. Here is a fairly thorough examination of Lawrence Dennis.
