Lie #2: The Social Security Trust Fund is a sham. Since the trust fund is growing and on schedule to work exactly as planned, the privatizers have been forced to resort to another lie: the trust fund is worthless.

I guess a government default is an extreme view...I more moderate one is that we are borrowing that money from ourselves. Can't keep doing it, the aggregate deficit is a severe drag on the fed budget and swell further as this goes on. We end up spending a ton of money on debt maintenance, and could spend that money for productive purposes, or give it back to its owners.
