Interesting question, and to tell you the truth I'm not really sure. I have more time now, and it has been great fun. I've corresponded with people I don't know who have common ancestors. That's the biggest benefit.

On the down side, I found out that some of my ancestors had big land grants from the crown, which meant that more than likely they were slave holders. I'm not proud of that, but I do not feel guilty or responsible for it. It's just a fact.

Some people think geneology is important for religious or spiritual reasons. I'm not one of those.

So, let's find out what people think. Anybody think it's a bad thing to study your ancestry? Anybody think it's irrelevant to modern life? Etc.??

Why is this important to you? I'm not challenging you, just genuinely curious.
