This part is funny:

The Kerry campaign, seeking to undercut Mr. Bush, announced Wednesday afternoon that the White House planned to appoint Mr. Raimondo on Thursday as an assistant secretary of commerce for manufacturing, a position that Mr. Bush promised with great fanfare on Labor Day. But the Kerry campaign also said that Mr. Raimondo's company, a manufacturer of steel buildings and agriculture equipment, had laid off American workers and was building a factory in Beijing.

"Putting another bureaucrat in the Department of Commerce is not going to get people back to work," Mr. Kerry said in a statement. "This is like the quarterback losing late in the fourth quarter, promising he can win the game by hiring a new water boy."

The Commerce Department responded by abruptly postponing a news conference scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Thursday that was to have announced Mr. Raimondo's appointment. But a Bush administration official said late Wednesday that Mr. Raimondo remained "under serious consideration" and that his company, Behlen Manufacturing Company, had not shifted any of its American jobs to China
