Hi Lizzie - This is a bit of off topic but does add to the off sourcing topic. I heard that E-Loan provides an "opt-out" option for customers to have their loan applications "outsourced" to India for data input and approval. Their out source operation not only is less expensive for E-Loan but the approval review is two to three days quicker.

E-Loan wanted to be "politically correct" by providing customers the option to "opt-out" from having their applications sent to India but it would take three to five days longer to process their loan.

85% of their U.S. customers told E-Loan to send their application to India for the faster processing and approval!

No out source legislation will work if the broad base U.S. customer wants the service (even if they are asked!). A tax on this function will just not work and will lead to greater inefficiencies.

We are in a difficult cross road but IMO any Government intervention will only delay the market system from working efficiently. There must be an easy transition process companies can take with Government legislation (tax credits for U.S. services perhaps) which over time will allow efficient global outsourcing.

I like the rumor that US Senator John McCain will meet with Kerry regarding the possibility of a VP offer. I may vote for such a ticket.
