according to Nikkei, in June Intel will stop shipments to China of wireless semiconductors used in PCs. in May of 2003, China launched a proprietary standard, WAPI, which is not compatible with WiFi, and specs were set in the fall by Chinese developers only. WAPI must be used in all devices sold in China starting on June 1, so foreign makers need to get WAPI licenses from Chinese cos in order to continue selling.
